Nathan Oliveira, Painter, Printmaker and sculptor b. 1928

Attended Mills College, and later California College of Arts and Crafts, where he reived both his BFA in 1951, and his MFA, in 1952. He has taught at several colleges including California College of Arts and Crafts and Stanford University.

He was a member of the Bay Area Figurative School, a group of San Francisco Bay Area artists in the 1950's who sought a return to figurative painting as a reaction to non-objective abstract painting.

Nathan Oliviera's outstanding work in graphics have made him a major figure in the American post war printmaking.
